His Excellency Lim Rathanak, lead a [CHRC] Working Group to Battambang Provincial Prison for a human rights inspection.
On Thursday, 25 April 2024, His Excellency Keo Remy, the Senior Minister and President of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC), thoughtfully assigned His Excellency Lim Rathanak, a member of the CHRC, to lead a [CHRC] Working Group to Battambang Provincial Prison for a human rights inspection. The Working Group met with the 3rd Class Superintendent, the Acting Director of Battambang Provincial Prison, the Chief of Special Bureau, and other prison officials to introduce the purpose of their visit and to receive a briefing on the situation, management, as well as other information, particularly focusing on the living conditions of detainees. Subsequently, the Working Group conducted inspections of each holding cell to assess the actual conditions. During the visit, the Working Group delivered 13 types of medications donated by His Excellency Senior Minister Keo Remy for the benefit of the prison’s occupants.
