Kuala Lumpur: HE Keo Remy, Senior Minister, President of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) and Cambodia’s Representative to the AICHR, assigned HE Ouch Nipon, CHRC Vice President and Cambodia’s Deputy Representative to the AICHR, to take part in the meeting between ASEAN Foreign Ministers and the AICHR in the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings on 8 July 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

During the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ meeting, HE Ouch Nipon said that exercising human rights and fundamental freedoms is impossible without peace. Peace serves as the essential basis for developing, implementing, protecting, and promoting human rights. According to the ASEAN Charter, ASEAN member states have affirmed their commitment to coexisting in a region characterized by enduring peace, security and stability, sustainable economic growth, shared prosperity and social progress, and respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, as well as human rights and fundamental freedoms. Cambodia has a profound appreciation for the importance of peace and has actively worked to preserve it, promoting peaceful solutions and preventing the use of force, which violates human rights, especially the right to life. Cambodia maintains a strong and clear stance in favor of resolving conflicts peacefully, in line with the United Nations Charter, the ASEAN Charter, and fundamental international law principles, aiming to ensure that the people of ASEAN live together in an atmosphere of peace, prosperity, and harmony, sharing a unified purpose and common destiny.
